Applications - Thermal Coal
DRYSCAN increases the Calorific Value of thermal coal by removing middlings and or higher ash particles from coarse coal particles (+5mm) in a totally waterless process.
In many cases, processing of coarse particles only provides a higher Calorific Value than washing both coarse and fines.
Cut points can be selected across the entire range of density fractions with little or no impact from ROM moisture levels.
In addition, operators can create cut points to target specific contaminants such as iron stone and pyrite which may damage the mills at the power stations.
DRYSCAN can process coal mined in open cut and underground mines alike, in arid or cold areas.
The waterless removal of clay particles minimises the risk of blockages and improves yields as compared to wet processing.
